TUNICS
This dataset describes Egyptian tunics and tunics fragments and was created in the framework of the TUNICS project. This project, entitled ‘The expression of cultural cross-fertilization in Egyptian clothing of the 7th-10th centuries AD’, has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Sklodowska-Curie grant agreement n° 844179. The TUNICS project was conducted by Anne Kwaspen and was hosted by the Centre for Textile Research (CTR), Saxo Institute, UCPH, Denmark 2019-2021. For the TUNICS project a selection of 280 tunics and tunic fragments from eight European collections were analysed with regard to their general features and technical aspects of weaving. The main results can be consulted in this online dataset. The tunics and fragments are from following collections: Skulpturensammlung und Museum für Byzantinische Kunst, Berlin (SMBK) Musée des Tissus et des Arts décoratifs, Lyon (MTLyon) Museum für Angewandte Kunst, Vienna (MAK) Ashmolean, Oxford (ASH) British Museum, London (BM) Victoria & Albert Museum, London (VAM) Royal Museum for Art and History, Brussels (KMKG) Katoen Natie collection of the Phoebus Foundation, Antwerp (KTN)
